Sanford heads the firm’s immigration practice. He works in the area of immigration and naturalization law.  Recently, he began the firm's Cannabis Industry Group. Sanford represents multi-national clients and individuals who are pursuing non-immigrant and immigrant visas. Sanford works with a wide scope of employers in various industries, including technology, telecommunications, education, pharmaceuticals, entertainment and manufacturing. He regularly consults with companies who need guidance with immigration compliance issues including I-9, EVerify and Audit Defense. He assists employers that are pursuing both long-term and short-term immigration strategies for their employees. Sanford meets regularly with business leaders and human resource personnel to provide updates and lead round table discussions dealing with immigration topics. In his role with the Cannabis Industry Group, Sanford assists individuals and business' with a range of issues including starting a business, licensure and compliance.

Non-Immigrant Work Visas

Sanford successfully petitions the Immigration Service on behalf of companies and individuals that are trying to obtain work permission in the United States. He regularly files H1Bs, L1s, O-1s, and TNs and is proficient in developing customized immigration plans for clients who are seeking employment permission and obtaining permanent residency in the United States.


Sanford assists employers and employees through the green card process known as PERM.

Immigrant Petitions/Consular Processing

Sanford assists clients in obtaining Permanent Residency through Adjustment of Status petitions based on approved PERM Applications or through filing an I-140 petition in an EB1 or EB2 category, including Extraordinary Ability, Outstanding Researcher or Outstanding Professor and Multi-National Executive. In addition, he prepares clients for consular processing and assists families who are petitioning for immediate relatives or who are eligible for certain Federal Programs including Deferred Action. Sanford has filed Federal lawsuits against the Immigration Service on behalf of individuals who have not received action on their immigration petitions.
