Laura represents private and government organizations in employment matters ranging from cases brought by individuals to broad-scale class and collective actions. She assists clients in federal and state employment litigation cases and provides day-to-day counseling to her clients on a wide variety of employment issues. Prior to joining Elarbee Thompson, she practiced in Tennessee where she gained experience serving clients on a range of employment matters.

Representative Matters

Successfully defended a large restaurant chain against a claim of negligent hiring and retaliation.

Successfully defended a Tennessee client in a race discrimination EEOC charge brought against a former employee. The matter was settled for a nominal amount after the position statement was submitted.

Successfully defended the termination of two former public employees in post adverse-action hearings.

Successfully defended a company against claims of intentional infliction of emotional distress brought by a former employee. The case was settled for a nominal amount after the plaintiff was deposed.

Successfully defended a company against a claim of negligence brought by a former employee. The case was dismissed on a pre-discovery dispositive motion.

Successfully prevented a former public employee from recovering unemployment benefits based on evidence of fraud.
