Shannon L. Smith

Shannon represents and advises employers on litigation and agency matters involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and employee benefits.

Shannon was born and raised in central Florida and lived in Atlanta prior to spending over a decade in New York City. She received her J.D. from New England Law School in Boston and her LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC. Shannon began her legal career in New York, where she practiced employee benefits and executive compensation law, providing compliance advice with respect to employer-sponsored retirement and health and welfare plans, as well as conducting transactional due diligence with respect to executive compensation and employee benefit plans.

Shannon decided to return to her roots in 2021 and now calls Atlanta “home.” She has also expanded her practice area to include labor and employment law and litigation and has represented employers in both the private and public sectors in defending claims of race, gender, and religious discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation. Shannon also counsels employers on other employment-related matters such as wage and hour law and labor matters.

When not working, Shannon is a proud Boxer (fur)mom and enjoys spending time with her family and friends; being outdoors; adding stamps to her passport; exploring new places; and volunteering in the community. She roots for the home teams (and the Yankees).
