Shannon L. Smith
Attorney
Shannon Smith works with employers in litigation matters relating to workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and employee benefits. Her experience spans both the public and private sectors, incorporating matters related to advising clients in various industries, including manufacturing. She additionally provides her clients with counsel to ensure compliance with various federal, state, and local labor and employment laws.
A Florida native with deep East Coast roots, Shannon has practiced law in both Georgia and New York, but has lived in Boston, New York, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C. She earned her J.D. from New England Law Boston and her LL.M. in Taxation, with a Certificate in Employee Benefits, from Georgetown University Law Center.
Shannon’s legal career began in New York, where she represented clients in employee benefits and executive compensation law matters, providing counsel on employer-sponsored retirement and health and welfare plans, as well as conducting transactional due diligence on executive compensation and employee benefit plans.
Shannon decided to return to her roots in 2021 and now calls Atlanta “home”, where she expanded her practice to labor and employment litigation. She is a strong advocate for proactive client communication and believes in fostering trust through transparency, reliability, and responsiveness. Shannon’s approach centers on delivering holistic, strategic advice while honoring her clients’ time and business objectives.
Outside of work, Shannon enjoys spending time with her Boxer pup, volunteering in the community, being outdoors, collecting stamps for her passport, and cheering for both her hometown Atlanta teams and the Yankees.
