On April 4, 2022, The Georgia Legislature adopted HB 1390, thereby creating a cause of action for damages and other relief against certain local government employer who retaliate against employees because they complained of, reported, objected to, or engaged in certain other activities reflecting their opposition to sexual harassment. Partners Read Gignilliat and Sean Libby have been working closely with the Department of Administrative Services and Office of the Inspector General to assist them in the implementation of the Governor’s Executive Order 01.14.19.02 regarding the prevention of sexual harassment in the Executive Branch of State government. Read and Sean assisted DOAS and the OIG in the drafting of the Statewide Sexual Harassment Prevention Policy and Investigative Guidelines, and have also designed and will be conducting training for designated investigators from each Executive Branch agency. On March 6, 2019, Read and Sean were asked to attend a press conference with Governor Kemp and DOAS and OIG officials to announce the rollout of the new Policy, accompanying procedures, and training.
